I've been a swatching fool. Two couples I know are going to have a baby. One couple I don't know if they'd appreciate a handknit item, but the other I know would. Why do knitters feel compelled to knit something for a new baby? I know it's because we love what we do and we would appreciate items that were handknit for us, but how often do we stop and think about what the recipient would like? I hear so many saying that the receiver never uses what was made for them and see this can lead to hurt feelings on the knitter's part. This is why I'm only going to knit for the couple I know would love a handknit item. Anyway! The one I'm going to knit for recently found out it's a girl. I've been swatching cables, aran, and lacy type patterns and none of them have been just right. I'm running out of steam and need to find something I'm happy with soon.
The Garnstudio cardi is all knit up, and partially seamed. I've been practicing the crochet part on various swatches I had laying around. After I ended up with something that looks like I think it should, I did the crochet on the sleeves. Now if I'd just get off my arse and finish seaming that last side, I could work on the bottom and fronts.
When we bought this house a couple of years ago, one of the things that really appealed to me was the wood trim. Guess I'm not the only one it appeals to:
It snowed this morning! Ginormous flakes! And this is when it was only snowing a little.
